About Us

Human beings all want to help each other, that is just how we are wired at our core. That is what gave birth to Some Painted Things (S.P.T.). We want to eliminate the effects of poverty in our local community, nation. and around the world. We accomplish this through a three part system that we call I.E.E , Impact through Education and Engagement.

Two years ago it was painful to see that “38.1 million people lived in Poverty USA” (povertyusa.org). It was more painful to see the number of children who were experiencing poverty, in that same year it was recorded that “16.2% of all children (11.9 million kids) lived in Poverty USA—that’s almost 1 in every 6 children.”(povertyusa.org).

Education is the basis of change, for a lot of children the first time they see someone experiencing homelessness or poverty, they are with an adult that may either pull them away from the person, or will interact with the person in a way that will make them perceive the individual as bad. Many adults also have negative view points of people who are experiencing an unfortunate situation, so we plan to run programming in schools as well as community centers.

Teaching them from a young age that their are people experiencing unfortunate situations around the world, and that a lot of them actually look a lot like them in age and size. Telling them that there is something that they can do to help them will surely put a smile on their face.

Then we show them how they can help by creating a masterpiece that will go on to make a difference in someone else's life. Children will get to express themselves through art on different items; T-shirts, Canvases, Pottery etc., that will get placed on our site and people will pay what they can for them and the proceeds will help fund our initiatives and outreach.
